This is my resource page for computer RPG resources. I have a particular affinity with the games of the Infinity Engine by Bioware, that are by far an away my favourite cRPGs of all the ones I have played, most especially Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2, Planescape: Torment, and also Icewind Dale 1 & 2.

1. Using Project Infinity For The First Time

This is my guide for budding first time users of the Project Infinity tool by Ali|en. I went through a fairly steep (but short) learning curve the first 3 weeks or so I first used it in December 2024 and seeing regular comments on forums and similar from people struggling to successfully get through that first time use and asking for help I decided to write up my experience, consolidate a list of links to all the resources I found, and summarise my suggestions to new users to help them started. The good news is once you get around it Project Infinity is a fantastic tool and each time you do a new install it gets faster and more streamlined with the experience gained.

Note that this is my current draft and not yet complete (as I’ve not finalised the last section on running & completing an install). However as I’ve had a couple of people ask me directly for help in the past I thought I’d make it available in draft format. Also now that I have converted 100% to a Linux environment (bye bye Windows spyware) I’m also currently not using PI for my game installs, but I hope to return to PI (and BG EET) sometime in 2026 – so may get a chance to update this document further and complete it then.

2. BG Nostalgia Pack Mod’s “Undo EE Changes”

BG Nostalgia Pack is a fantastic mod for Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition, that brings many aspects of the original Baldur’s Gate into the EE version. One of the features it includes is “Undo EE Changes” that removes extra items, including BG2 items that weren’t originally in BG1, changes store inventory back to how it was originally, and eliminates duplicate items that were also added in the EE version. However the read me file that accompanies the mod lacks a full list of these details so I have compiled the following list:
